The Black Family Business: A Foundation For the Future, presented by Dr. Teresa Merriweather Orok and Sharon Brooks Hodge will discuss the importance of encouraging entrepreneurship to young African-American families and provide concrete advice on how to start a business and access resources.

Bishop George Dallas McKinney and his wife Barbara J. Warren McKinney, along with their six sons, their wives and their 15 grandchildren have been selected to receive the 2017 Family of the Year award by Black Family Preservation Group, Inc.
Although the family's origins are in Jonesboro, Arkansas, today the McKinney family is a vibrant part of the San Diego, California community where the patriarch is senior pastor of St. Steven's Cathedral COGIC, which he founded in 1962 along with his late wife Dr. Jean C. McKinney.
Black Family Preservation Group, Inc. is a national 501c3 organization created to improve the image and public perception of black families. We raise awareness of adverse conditions impacting the stability of African-American families and dedicate resources for those affected by the dissolution of the black family unit.
